IBM integrates ATLAS RFID Asset Tracking
System with Track™ software
Houston, Texas — February 2007
Management Controls, Inc., creator of market-leading Track™ business process automation software and International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM) have announced the integration of IBM’s ATLAS RFID Asset Tracking System with Track software.
IBM’s Asset Tracking Locating and Awareness System (ATLAS) uses active RFID tags embedded in customized identification badges. The same technology is used on vehicles to pinpoint their whereabouts at all times. A network of receivers throughout the site picks up the unique signal transmitted by each tag, and the solution calculates the exact location of the tag at that moment. In this way, a company’s safety team can identify the exact location of each person wearing a specially tagged badge. If a disaster takes place, safety personnel can quickly see who is in the affected area, who evacuated, who may still be there and what their last known location was.
IBM’s Radio Frequency Identification Asset and Personnel Tracking system has been integrated with Track to provide a compelling business case for both safety and cost control. Track uses ATLAS data to calculate contractor labor and equipment time in a variety of locations, thereby providing real-time, accurate cost tracking.
